Wedding trends of 2022 continuing into 2023 and beyond
After covid it seemed everyone became less concerned about what day of the week they get married on, with the emphasis about getting together to celebrate with loved ones. This trend continues into 2023, through 2024 and now into 2025!
Sometimes a weekday wedding is chosen if a date has a special meaning to couples which falls on a weekday – often the date they met, or the date they got engaged.
Venue hire is more affordable midweek, allowing couples to use the extra spend on catering and special touches for their wedding day, as well as being able to invite more guests. It’s also a choice made when couples’ preferred venue has limited weekend availability but they don’t want to wait.
Similarly, cheaper months of the year are increasingly popular – the romance of a cosy winter wedding, the optimistic air of a spring wedding certainly have their appeal. Whatever the reasons, Wednesday is definitely the new Thursday, and Thursday is definitely the new Friday, and we believe it’s a trend that’s here to stay!
Food and drink trends continue to see sharing menus remaining very popular, to provide a more informal and relaxed option for your wedding breakfast. Extra touches such as a hot chocolate station with all its delicious toppings, or a gin bar with a wide range of botanicals, add those little extras that delight couples and their guests.
Décor isn’t all about flowers and table centre pieces, choosing different lighting can really make a huge difference to the space you have to use and can completely transform your wedding venue space. By adding lighting you can change the look and feel to create different atmospheres to tie in with the decor depending on the vibe you are going for. This can be done in many different ways by positioning uplights around the room, lanterns at the entrance, putting a lighting canopy across the beams, letters on the dance floor or even a feature wall of fairy lights. Outside festoon lighting and pretty outdoor lights provided by the venue create a magical atmosphere at night for your guests to enjoy. Wedding lighting has been a significant trend for many years and shows no sign of diminishing. The biggest wedding trend of 2022 was vertical string fairy lights which look stunning at the back of a dance floor, or against large glazed areas for a fairytale effect from both inside and out. Barn wedding venues in particular provide the opportunity to have lighting canopies across the beams, from festoon lights, to string lights and lit swags.
One of the biggest wedding trends of 2022 was flower arches in many different styles and shapes to provide the wow factor! Even the same style of arch looks completely different each time it’s done, as a colour scheme and different flowers completely mixes it up and transforms the look. From Moon gates, rectangular flower arches, tree arches to the original flower arch, we have seen so many, and we love them all! They make a stunning focal point, creating a beautiful photo backdrop not only to the ceremony room but can then be moved to the wedding reception as a beautiful frame behind the top table. We believe the next floral arch trend will be the appearance of the asymmetrical arch which has started to make an impact. You heard it here first!
Beautiful on-site accommodation for the couple and their family was another of the biggest wedding trends of 2022 which influenced couples’ choice of venue. It adds the ‘icing on the cake’ to make the wedding even more memorable, and this trend continues strongly into 2023.
