In today’s couple’s spotlight, we’ll be sharing Courtney and Dave’s special wedding day. Starting with how they met and finishing with whether they would change anything about their wedding if they could.
Preparing for the big day
From a long-distance romance that consisted of MSN Messenger and arranging to visit each other alternating weekends, a 12-year (and counting!) love story blossomed for Courtney and Dave, who first met in 2009.
After growing into adulthood together from such a young age, the pair were ready to start their next chapter – married life.
For the big day, the couple had two main goals; to create a day that reflected everything they love, and for a day where their guests could enjoy themselves.
The happy couple worked hard to add touches of everything they loved into different aspects of the day; from the wax melt gifts for the women, and Pez sweets for the men which acted as reminders of Dave and Courtney’s favourite things.
After the turbulence of 2020, and the fact that the pair already had to postpone their initial wedding date, they wanted to create a relaxed day where their guests could have fun, reunite after lockdown, and feel the love that Courtney and Dave have for them.
The perfect memorable venue
Lillibrooke Manor was the first location that the couple looked at and were immediately wow-ed – even after visiting four other nearby venues, they still couldn’t beat the beautiful surroundings of our Manor.
“At every other venue we looked at, we found ourselves saying, “but it’s not Lillibrooke is it…” so knew it was the one for us.” – Courtney and Dave
Combining an elegant burgundy and green colour scheme with a delicious menu, Courtney and Dave had the opportunity to completely personalise the space and make it their own.
The couple were all about the unique touches that made their wedding day special, from the bags of sweets for guests to choose ‘Courtney’s favourites’ or ‘Dave’s favourites’ and a guestbook made up of postcards of the pair’s favourite locations – they even had a pretzel wall in the evening with a variety of flavours and dips which went down a treat.
Advice for other couples
After their big day at Lillibrooke Manor, we asked Courtney and Dave to share their experience and give advice to other couples who are currently planning their wedding.
When asked if they would go back and change anything, the pair said “Not worry about the ceremony! We were both so nervous at the thought of the ceremony and standing in front of everyone and saying our vows that we planned the shortest ceremony with the fewest words and only one reading.”
They also urge other couples to “Make sure that you meet your suppliers before booking, find the ones that reflect you, your personalities and style and get to know them as they will be helping you to make your dreams a reality.”
