TTWWR Desiree Mark 85 - wedding venue berkshireWhen it comes to wedding styling, few teams bring as much heart, heritage, and artistry as Bird Events — the talented mother‑and‑daughter duo, Jayne and Rozanna. Known for their thoughtful details, seasonal blooms, and beautifully layered colour palettes, they’ve become one of our most trusted and loved preferred suppliers.

With decades of combined experience in floristry, venue management, and event planning, Bird Events have a unique ability to translate a couple’s personality into a cohesive, meaningful wedding palette. From the first consultation to the final flourish, their approach blends creativity with practicality, ensuring every design feels intentional, personal, and perfectly suited to the spaces at Lillibrooke Manor and the Barns.

We sat down with them for a behind‑the‑scenes look at their process, their inspirations, and how they use colour, texture, and seasonal flowers to elevate every celebration.

What first inspired you both to start Bird Events, and how has your mother‑and‑daughter dynamic shaped your approach to wedding styling and how you interact with your couples?

We launched Bird Events in 2018, but you could say it’s been in the works since the early 1990’s! Jayne has been a florist for a long time (more years than she’ll ever admit!) and Rozanna has a background in venue management and event planning. We joined forces officially in 2018, although really our business has been in the making for over 30 years with Rozanna making flowers with Jayne from a tiny age!

As a mother and daughter team, family is at the heart of everything we do, and that connection is reflected in every design we create. We’re very similar, so our designs are always complimentary of one another, yet we bring individual skillsets to the table which makes us a great team.

When you begin planning the wedding styling for a couple, what does your process look like — from the first meeting to understanding their vision, personality, and colour palette?

We love meeting people, so we’re always keen to meet and chat. Everyone is always welcome at our studio in Guildford, or we meet on a video call. It’s key to get face-to-face contact to get to know each other because choosing your wedding suppliers isn’t about what’s on paper, it’s whether you get that ‘feeling’ when you meet them. Together they’re a team who are going to bring your wedding day to life so it’s important you have trust in them.

After our initial consultation, we curate a bespoke mood board and outline your budget. Once the date is reserved with us, we dive deeper into getting every floral and styling detail perfect. Our door is always open, and our couples are always welcome to pop in to catch up.

We always go beyond the basics and offer something fabulous whatever the budget. We pride ourselves on introducing unexpected details that elevate our designs and make your flowers truly unforgettable.

You’re known for creating beautifully styled wedding days filled with thoughtful details. How do you balance creativity with practicality when designing a cohesive wedding styling concept?

We always start with creativity, dreaming up a big, beautiful design; then work out how to bring it to life on a practical basis later!

Once we’ve got the creative vision nailed down, it’s a logical process for ensuring we can bring it to life on a few levels; from how to construct safely and in the time we have to set up, working within a couple’s budget and working with any venue restrictions.

We’re lucky at Lillibrooke that the rules on floral installations are very kind to us so we can create wild and wonderful designs if that is the vision.

We consider seasonality in every design, opting to work with flowers that are at their best at that time of year, as you tend to get the best quality this way and the most authentic feel. We work with our couples to create focal moments where impact matters most, and use supporting elements strategically, so the overall look feels cohesive without being wasteful.

Seasonal flowers are such a signature part of your work. How do you use colour schemes, textures, and seasonal blooms to elevate a couple’s styling at venues like Lillibrooke Manor and the Barns?

monochrome paletteSeasonal flowers are the starting point for every design when we’re building a colour palette. We look at what’s naturally at its best at that time of year and build the palette from there, rather than forcing flowers to behave out of season. That immediately gives the styling a sense of ease and authenticity.

When it comes to colour palettes, we layer tones rather than sticking to a flat palette as this just doesn’t work with flowers. We mix softer tones in the palette with deeper or unexpected accent colours to bring depth and movement. Texture is just as important as colour: combining delicate blooms with more structural shapes, and pairing fresh flowers with foliage, seed heads, or dried details to add contrast and character.

By working with seasonal flowers, we can create designs that feel intentional and timeless, and naturally connected to the season our couples are getting married in.

You’ve styled so many weddings here with us, as well as several of our tasting evenings and wedding showcases — what makes our venue’s spaces inspiring from a wedding styling perspective?

The most inspiring thing about Lillibrooke is the choice and versatility of the spaces available. To have multiple indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from is such a bonus as it allows couples to truly personalise their day and make use of multiple spaces. All spaces are decorated authentically, with raw materials like wooden beams and brickwork exposed, which gives a warm and inviting canvas for us to dress. We work with lots of couples who repurpose their ceremony displays for their reception, so it’s always fun finding out which combination of spaces they’ve chosen so we can create designs to compliment their plans.

Every couple is unique. How do you tailor your wedding styling ideas to suit different personalities, cultural influences, and the atmosphere they want to create on their wedding day?

This is the best thing about our job! Every couple has their own love story which is totally unique to them. We love hearing all about who they are, how they came to be together, how they enjoy spending their time and all about their nearest and dearest. This story inspires our designs and helps us create flowers that are truly personal. A particular favourite thing for us to do is use flower varieties that tie in with their story, whether it’s family heritage with the origin of certain flowers, or the variety names of flowers with links to family names.

What wedding styling trends are you loving right now, and how do you adapt these trends to work seamlessly within historic venues like Lillibrooke Manor and are there any trends you’re hoping to try out?

The pantone colour of the year often influences wedding trends and we’re absolutely seeing that this year. The colour of the year is ‘cloud dancer’, a soft whimsical white. Monochrome is having a big moment and we’re seeing this palette favoured with some of our couples this year. We’ve designed a couple of monochrome weddings at Lillibrooke and it works so beautifully; there is something about the clash of the rustic charm of the barns with the opulence of a stark black & white palette that is a match made in wedding heaven.

For couples beginning their wedding planning journey, what advice would you give them when choosing their colour scheme and overall styling direction — especially when working with versatile spaces like the Small Barn, Cloister Garden, and the Great Barn?

When choosing your colour scheme we love leaning into the season of your wedding and working with palettes and flower varieties that are in season. We’re on hand to advise on what flowers are at their best at each time of year. In terms of colour schemes, we love rich jewel tones in the winter months and sunset tones in the Autumn. Throughout Spring & Summer brighter colourful palettes are always our favourite.

There are timeless palettes that work well all year round so if classic whites, blush tones and sage are your vibe, we love these year-round. The barns at Lillibrooke are the perfect canvas for every palette with its natural interiors and rustic charm. We’ve designed weddings using every colour there is and there isn’t anything that doesn’t suit the spaces – so you really can have anything you like and it will look beautiful!

Bird Events bring a rare blend of family connection, creative intuition, and technical expertise to every wedding they style. Their process begins with truly getting to know each couple — understanding their story, their vision, and the colour palette that feels most like “them.” From there, they build designs around seasonal flowers, layered tones, and thoughtful textures, ensuring each arrangement feels authentic and beautifully balanced.

At Lillibrooke Manor, their artistry shines. The venue’s rustic charm and versatile spaces give them the freedom to craft impactful focal moments, repurpose florals throughout the day, and tailor each palette to the season. Whether it’s a monochrome scheme inspired by Pantone’s colour of the year, rich jewel tones for winter, or soft, romantic hues for summer, Bird Events prove time and again that every palette can look extraordinary in the barns.

Their passion for storytelling through flowers — and their ability to weave personal details, cultural influences, and seasonal beauty into every design — is exactly why we adore working with them. For couples beginning their styling journey, Bird Events are the perfect partners to help bring your vision to life with creativity, care, and a palette that feels uniquely yours.
