When it comes to your big day, we’re here to pull out all the stops to make it truly special. At Lillibrooke Manor, we work with all our amazing couples to plan a wedding day that is totally unique on the grounds of our idyllic Berkshire wedding venue.
In today’s couple’s spotlight, we’re looking back at Angie and Dan’s special day where they got to say ‘I do’ in the company of some of their closest friends and family.
Starting to plan their wedding day
Angie and Dan met during university in 2010 and, what started off as a friendship built on a shared love of music, horror movies, and food, quickly turned into a forever love story. After doing long-distance for three years, the couple finally got engaged in a romantic proposal on a beautiful coastal walk in Torquay.
The couple had already decided on a red and blue colour scheme to create their vision of rustic, yet modern, feeling small ceremony and big reception – and Lillibrooke Manor was their perfect venue.
“Everything about Lillibrooke was perfect. The barns were beautiful but the black barn
especially matched my personal aesthetic of ’emo’, it felt so on brand… we also really felt free with how to style the venue.” – Angie and Dan
To complement the dark and moody vibe they were hoping to achieve, they used flowers to accessorise the barn for the ceremony.
“Flora Special Occasion got the tone of the flowers so right, she picked dark reds, pinks and peach tones for our flowers and set up the most incredible Moongate as our focal point in the Small Barn for our ceremony.”
As a pair of avid DIY-ers, many smaller details were created by the family which added a personal touch to the very special day – they even added in special touches of their favourite TV series, Friends.
“Both of us are massive fans of the tv show Friends, so we wanted little nods to the show
in the Great Barn. We printed a canvas with Joey’s wedding speech for Monica &
Chandler and had this at the front of the Barn for everyone to read as they walked in.”
Exceptional in-house caterers
Planning food for a wedding can be difficult when you have to accommodate a range of dietary requirements but, at Lillibrooke Manor, our in-house caterers can make anything possible.
Angie and Dan’s menu included warming meat and vegetarian options to warm up their guests on the cold March day:
Starter – Butternut soup
Main – Chicken or Spinach Cannelloni
Desserts – Chocolate trio
“The food options Lillibrooke offer with their in-house caterers were fantastic and they
were happy to accommodate our request for halal food. If there’s anything that our friends mention when we saw them post-wedding, it’s how delicious the Chicken was & the Butternut Squash soup.”
Angie and Dan’s advice for other couples
After their perfect day at Lillibrooke Manor, we asked Angie and Dan what advice they would give to other couples who are about to embark on the wedding planning journey.
“Everyone says this, but make sure to take time to enjoy the day just the two of you. The
day will go so quickly and you’ll feel pre-occupied saying hello to everyone, but even 5
minutes together just to let it sink in that you’re married and your hard work of planning
has paid off is enough.”
“Also hire 2 photographers! I would suggest hiring a videographer or asking your
bridesmaids to film parts of the day too so you can watch it back. You put so much into the wedding day, you deserve to relive it again and again!”
A day to remember for the rest of their lives
Everyone remembers their wedding day, but of course, there are always those little moments that stand out the most.
We asked Angie and Dan what their favourite moment from the day was:
“The entire day felt like a dream, everything went to plan and we all enjoyed ourselves so much. My favourite moment was walking down the aisle with my parents, seeing all my friends and family so happy and finally marrying Dan. We’d planned the wedding for a year and a half and it felt so surreal to have it come to life.”
