I have to admit that summer weddings have always been a particular favourite of mine, but recent weddings at Lillibrooke have made me begin to question my preferences…   For most, Christmas is a happy time anyway, and when a wedding is thrown into the mix, it creates an atmosphere of celebration that cannot be rivalled at any other time of year. We’ve had lots of Christmas weddings at Lillibrooke over the years, and Ali & Russell’s beautiful winter wonderland on the first weekend in December this year, complete with Christmas trees, crackers and a mulled wine reception, was such a cosy happy affair, that I couldn’t help but love it!

Ali and Russell created a beautiful country house Christmas by adding traditional red berries, green holly and gold ribbons to our ivy and fairy lights and it looked beautiful.  They made each aspect of their perfect wedding day Christmassy and fun, from their arrival in a camper van laden with luxurious furs, to their mulled wine reception, to the truly festive wedding breakfast, the whole day had a celebratory feel to it.
Festive touches continued all over the venue – with card stockings, rather than card baskets or letterboxes, each personalised with Ali and Russell’s initials, the guestbook sign was covered in Christmas trees, the table plan was a beautiful display covered in greenery and red berries and the music was a playlist full of festive favourites!  The favours were pots of homemade chutney, covered with brightly coloured materials and a cracker was on every place, topped off with a pack of After Eights on each table (a staple Christmas treat!).  Looking around the Great Barn during the wedding breakfast the guests looked the part too, with paper hats and cracker jokes giving it a real Christmas dinner flavour!  The meal finished in true festive style with the Twelve Days of Christmas song, each table having a chorus of their own to sing, and each trying to out-do the others in their rendition!
I think the beautiful Christmas weddings we hold show that Lillibrooke barns can work in any season and the wedding barns and Manor House can be used as a setting to whatever your heart desires.  There are several major benefits of a winter wedding too:

  1. Lillibrooke is an impressive backdrop for your wedding photos, with any number of lovely places for those all-important pictures to create everlasting memories – if you get a particularly cold and frosty or even snowy day, the pictures will be beautiful and so different to everyone else’s sunny summer weddings.
  2. You will need to top off your wedding dress with a romantic velvet cape, or a fabulous fur bolero, which I always think compliments a wedding gown perfectly.
  3. You can plan with a lot more certainty for a winter wedding – you know it is not going to be warm outside, so you will have ceremony, drinks and food inside out of the cold, rather than keeping your fingers (and toes) crossed for sunny weather at your British summer wedding!
  4. Lillibrooke has specially designed Winter Wedding Packages, leaving more to spend on other aspects of your perfect day!
At Lillibrooke, all of our spaces are licensed, all creating a wonderful setting for your wedding ceremony and reception or any other event you might wish to have.  Why not pop along and see if Lillibrooke could become your perfect winter wonderland!
